Use WiFi Scanner to see if there is any free and open WiFi you can use.
The open model doesn't use any security and allows all users to access the AP. This means there is nothing stopping you or anyone else with a device from using the internet. This is never recommended and you always have some sort of authorizing protocol in use like WPA2.
Use WiFi Scanner to see what "Open" networks are around you.
Sometimes AP's reset them selfs without warning. If this happens open up WiFi Scanner and see if there is a new "Open" network. If there is it's definitely yours!
